    TAKE TIME OUT - SYDNEY YOGA

    Yoga at The Bunker is an an opportunity for you to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We don’t treat yoga like a last-minute add-on to our classes. Members of The Bunker have access to a dedicated MindBody playground, offering various traditional and non-traditional classes.

    Our yoga classes provide an opportunity for you to step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The MindBody playground is separate from The Bunker gym and other class studios, which helps create a truly mindful experience from the moment you arrive to the moment you finish. The space is instantly calming – quiet and full of beautiful light. We have tried to provide you with the perfect atmosphere in which to nurture your mind, body and spirit.

    The MindBody playground features various types of yoga: Hatha, Vinyasa, Power, Japanese, Yin, and ANTIGRAVITY ™ aerial yoga; as well as pilates, barre; and CircusFit classes.

    WHY YOGA?

    Yoga is dedicated to helping you achieve a perfectly balanced, healthy state of being. It nurtures the mind, the body and the spirit, focusing on spiritual growth and mastery over your physical and mental body. In today’s rapidly paced world, yoga provides a quiet moment to breathe. Because there are many types of yoga now days, there is something to suit most people. Yoga is an ancient practice that began in India thousands of years ago, but has evolved over time and includes modern practices, such as the increasingly popular ANTIGRAVITY ™ aerial yoga. Some classes are relaxing and meditative (yin and restorative) whilst others are more physically demanding (aerial, power). Recent years have seen numerous studies conducted into the health benefits of yoga. Overwhelmingly, these studies show the practice of yoga is safe and beneficial for a wide range of conditions and life-stages.

    ISN’T YOGA JUST STRETCHING?

    No – although it may look like yoga is all about stretching, it actually involves much more than physical postures. Yoga aims to develop mindfulness by directing your attention inward, helping you become more aware of your experiences from moment to moment. At the heart of any yoga practice is the breath. Participants focus on their breathing and on connecting the movement of the body to the rhythm of their breath. Connecting the mind, body, and breath helps participants direct their attention inward. Having said that, the poses in yoga will help improve your flexibility, as well as your core strength and balance. Yoga can also have other physical benefits – a 2014 review of yoga and cardiovascular disease published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology suggests yoga may help lower heart disease risk as much as conventional exercise, such as brisk walking. The participants who took yoga classes during the study lost an average of five pounds, took five points off their blood pressure, and lowered their levels of LDL cholesterol by 12 points.

Led by our talented and fully qualified yoga instructors, we offer a diverse selection of yoga styles to suit all levels and personal preferences. Our yoga class sizes are limited to help create an intimate environment and to ensure each member receives personalised care and guidance.
